HI, I'M ROYA.

I’m a full-time photographer based in Pasadena, California, and I’ve been making photographs for more than 18 years. My background spans fine art photography, photojournalism, and commercial advertising, but I found my place documenting real people, real stories, and real life.

I’m drawn to photographs that feel honest, not overly posed or manufactured. I want to capture the big moments, the quiet ones, and everything in between. The laughter, the chaos, the little gestures, and the moments you might not even realize are happening.

My approach is relaxed and documentary-inspired. I’ll offer direction when it’s helpful, but I’m much more interested in creating space for you to be yourselves.

These days, my life is a little less about climbing mountains and a lot more about exploring the world with my partner and my daughter. When we’re not traveling, you’ll usually find us outside somewhere hiking, camping, or simply finding a good place to slow down and spend the day.

I’m not here to manufacture your story. I’m here to document it.
